Salicylic Acid in Skin Care

"Hi, my name is Mary Thinnes and I'm a skincare expert. We're going to talk about the only beta hydroxy acid and then salicylic acid. Salicylic acid, as I mentioned before, is a derivative of aspirin. So, if you are allergic to aspirin, please do not use salicylic acid on your skin. Salicylic acid is primarily good for acneic, oily skin, also people that have a lot of blackheads because beta hydroxy acids with salicylic is, is going to penetrate deeper into those pores and actually help clean them out. Salicylic acid is going to be more like a gel. It could be either tinted or clear. So with salicylic, again, you can either spot treat or put it all over the face, depending on how many breakouts you have or how many lesions you have or how many blackheads. She has a little bit on her chin, so I'm going to put on the chin and on her nose, and this is after I've cleansed and toned the skin and this is the home care regimen. This is not to be rinsed off. Again, you're going to leave it on the skin for about a minute and then proceed with putting on your moisturizers or other products over the top. Then if she has any breakouts like right here, I'm just going to put a little bit on there too as well. So let that dry like I said for about a minute and then you're going to proceed with your moisturizers. Again, you want to keep in mind using this at night--you don't want to use it and go out in the sun because your skin is going to be more sensitive from the chemicals. That being said, that's salicylic acid."
