"Hi! I'm Karen for Expert Village. We will put the pants with the button under the foot of the machine and we are going to line up the holes of the button with the opening in the foot; zigzag opening in the foot. I'm tipping the machine so that you can see that the opening for the zigzag and through there I see 2 holes, 2 holes of the button. I'm going to put that down. Once you get that lined up, put your foot down so that it is on there firmly. Now, you never start the machine right away with the foot pedal because when the button is under the button's heart, it could possibly break your needle. What you want to do is move the needle by hand so you use the hand wheel and you lower the needle and make sure that it enters the hole of the button. If it doesn't at that point, you can adjust your stitch width and I'll show you. Adjusting the stitch width will move the needle back and forth and you just find the right position so that the needle is entering right into the hole and go down and now you want to see if it is going into the other hole. So you keep turning and if it hits the button you should stop and readjust the needle. Then go in and do 4 or 5 you know to check to see if the needle goes in and out of the button holes nicely and then at that point when everything seems clear and you are not hitting the button, be very careful not to move the button. You can then step on the foot pedal and let it sew for a fair amount of time. So this button had 4 holes so we sewed in the first top 2 holes. Now I am going to readjust and lift my foot. Again I am going to look for the other 2 holes through the foot and then put the foot back down. Again with the hand wheel, I'll turn the needle and make sure the needle is entering the holes of the button and just test it out a few times and then when it seems free and clear and the needle is not going to hit the button, then you can step on the foot pedal and sew 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and then lift the foot and take the button and cut your threads in the front and the back and that is what it looks like; in the back and in the front. Don't worry about the double stick tape. It won't be in the way and eventually it will wash out. "
