My name is Jean Hurley from Siegels Day Spa in Cottonwood, Arizona and we’re giving you tips and techniques on how to pinpoint muscle groups today. I’m working in the abdominal area right now and this can be a very ticklish part of the body for a lot of people. The one we want to address first is the oblique and the oblique attaches behind at the hip and come across just under the ribcage, slightly above it into right here at the base of the sternum. It’s a long muscle, it doesn’t really do a twisting but it does curve. If you can visualize the way the body moves, as you are warming up that muscle with the fingers as your guide. Let them guide you, not your hand, just ride the muscle along the base of the ribcage into the sternum. Next groups here where we get that six pack ripple into the abdominal region. You can feel them with the fingertips and they stretch from the bellybutton center and stretch out about 3 to 4 inches and what I like to do is I meet at the middle and push and pull my fingers apart just to go here. And last is down here, right here at the waistband level. Simple pulsing with your hand lets you identify it attachment points and where that muscle is at. You can just simply roll back and fourth along that waistband area to release and relax that muscle.
