" Hi my name is Jamie Yasko-Mangum and with Successful Style and Image today on Expert Village we are going to talk about the proper fit of a skirt with a suit. Now again remember a skirt suit is the top jacket and skirt but together that match. When we look at a skirt on a suit the skirt needs to fit right on the waist or slightly below the waist right here this model this model we have it sitting right at the waist. It could be slightly below the waist to. What you don't want is to far below the waist and you don't want it clear up by your bust area. So a sure fire way make sure that it sits on your natural waist. Natural waist is a little bit below the waist in the front but it is the classic waist in the back. That is on the waist line the proper fit you want to make sure that it is not to tight. How do you know if your skirt is to tight? If you can't zip it up. It should nicely zip up, it should not take you a while to get it up because what happens not only does the waist not fit but then the thigh area gets to tight and the stride of the skirt pinches. You could see here it pinches. You don't want there to be any rolls right here in the skirt. If you zip it up and it is to tight you would see those rolls you know the skirt is to tight. At the same time the skirt is to big you don't want to take tons of materials on the side or in the front. You want to make sure it is a semi fitted skirt that means you could move around in it but it shows you shape to it doesn't pull. Another thing a lot of suits has pockets. Now this suit here does not have pockets because it has the pleats to it but a lot of suits has pockets on the side. How do you know if a suit a skirt suit fits? Is the pockets stay close. In this right here you want to make sure that the pockets stay close on the side of the skirt. What you don't want to happen is the skirt that they pull apart that is when you know that the skirt is to tight. So lets go down to the hem line, hem line the skirt everyone is concern about. Some very universal rules at the knee is a very universal knee about how short a skirt should be. However, you can go and its still office appropriate 2-3 inches. If you think 3 inches is to short put a ruler up to your skirt and you would see 3 inches is not that short and that is above the knee. If you are going below the knee only about a inch below the knee we do not want a long skirt in a professional in a professional dress. So that is the hem line that is appropriate when it comes to your skirts. So remember its the waist, its the thigh area, it the hem line you don't want it to big, you don't want it to small. You want it to fit you. Thank you!"
