"Okay, so you think you’ve found the perfect frame, looks good, fits your personality but one of the keys is does it fit and there are a couple of different places that you want to see if it fits correctly. One of those places is going to be on the temple and I’ll show you on my glasses, the temple, you want it to break just past the ear okay, there is a little curl and you want that curl to be right about where your ear is. A lot of frames have different size temples and some frames do not, it’s probably a fifty-fifty thing so you want to make sure that it breaks evenly over the ear. If it’s too long you can get it adjusted, like this, all you need to do is heat this up and turn this in, your optician should do this for you, okay, don’t do this yourself, but they can make things fit a little bit better and that’s fine, they have to do that quite a bit actually. You also want to make sure that you have tension on the side of your head, you don’t want there to be a huge gap between this part and your head here, this is the temple of the frame and you don’t want it to be too tight or too loose from the temple of your head. So you don’t want it to leave any indentions on your head but nor do you want to be able to stick a finger width in between the temple and your head. The other thing is the nose pads; do they make the glasses ride up too high, are they too low, is this bridge sitting on your nose, on your skin. That needs to be adjusted; you need to make sure that that fits appropriately on you, that’s just going to make sure, you know that the glasses feel comfortable. You’ve probably seen people that have indentions on their nose from them being too tight or maybe you think that they sit too low. You want to make sure that your pupil sits right in the middle of the lens, you don’t want there to be a lot of excess lens space, so you want to be fairly centered in the glasses. Be aware that some of the zyle and plastic frames we’ve talked about do not have nose pads ladies so they can’t be adjusted. On those you have to make sure that they fit very well initially because that’s probably how they are going to feel in the end, so all frames are fairly adjustable, some frames more so than that, than others. Be sure to console, consult your optician about which frames are more adjustable than others. "
