Most patients are great candidates, for all forms of sedation that we offer, in dentistry. However, it is imperative that the patient be evaluated, with a dentist, in terms of their medical history because there are certain people that will not be good candidates, for the sedation dentistry. One of these examples is anything that has to do with your airway or cardiovascular, meaning if you have issues with snoring or sleep apnea or past history of asthma, those can, sometimes, disqualify you from pursuing sedation because of the fact that most of the sedation's that we use can alter your ability to breathe and your ability for your heart rate and your pulse and blood pressure and things like that. Those are the things that we typically screen for. However, again, it's very important that you have your medical history checked with your dentist, prior to pursuing any sort of sedation. Again, most people are great candidates for it, it is a very safe procedure and it's been administered for multiple years, without any sorts of complications. However, it is important that you check with your dentist, prior to pursuing any sort of sedation protocol, for dentistry.
