"How many times have a patient came to the dentist and complained of the noise of the drill, the sound of the drill, and even sometimes the smell. These are issues we typically encounter with patients, either from a past experience as a child, or even so now where patients fear going for the pain or the smell, or the sight of some of the things that we have to do in order to get you back to adequate health. These are things that sedation dentistry will address, as far as helping, you know, overcome fears and issues with some of the things that we use. Other things that sedation dentistry can address is obviously a high fear of going to the dentist from a bad past experience or a recent bad experience, if you have a fear of needles or the sound of the drill, or you have difficulty keeping your mouth open, or have problems with jaw soreness, or we can also address a gag reflex. If you have issues where you know that you need extensive work and you need get it kind of confined to one appointment as opposed to four or five appointments, again sedation dentistry would be a good option for you. Anything from addressing bad breath, periodontal disease, badly broken teeth, you need extractions; all these issues can be addressed."
