"Hi! My name is Monica and today we are going to talk about Achilles tendon problems. The Achilles tendon is actually a part of two muscles that come together. If you look at the back of your calf here you have, this muscle is superficial muscle that everyone knows as your calf muscle is your gastrocnemius or your gastroc muscle and right below that a deeper muscle is your soleus muscle and those two muscles start to up here above your knee, they come down and they form your Achilles tendon right down here. So it varies on people, but from about here maybe sometimes right here, usually about here on down, it is just all tendon, it is no longer muscle and then right as they are coming in they insert on your heel bone and your calcaneus. So this right here when people say they are having Achilles tendon problems, that is usually what they are referring to somewhere down right around in here and maybe as it is even inserting on to their calcaneus right here.
