"ELIZABETH ROSE: So, causes of head and neck pain include not only holding tension in the traps, the neck, and the jaw but they also include things like subluxation of the vertebrae, which is a misalignment of the vertebrae, if you've ever had a car accident or had some kind of impact that caused you to have whiplash or caused your vertebrae to be herniated or something like that. It includes improper nutrition and improper hydration. It's important to drink water. It's extremely important to drink water during and especially after yoga practice, after you do any kind of body work like massage therapy or if you go to the chiropractor to get an alignment. Drink your water; it keeps your muscles supple. If you are getting these chronic headaches, they're dehydration. When you're just feeling like--you can feel that your muscles will literally feel like old rubber bands, have you ever seen an old rubber band that you stretch out and it just kinda goes [SOUNDS LIKE] "krrrk" and then it doesn't stretch back again, it's kinda hard and brittle, same exact thing will happen to your muscles and your tendons if you're not properly hydrated and if you don't keep up with your diet and your exercises and your activities. So, be careful with that, drink your water, and be intuitive to determine the cause of your pain before you start doing any kind of yoga or exercise."
