"DR. CHRIS MANGO: Hi. This is Dr. Chris Mango here in New York City. On behalf of Expert Village, we're going to be taking a look at trigger points today. The next muscle we're going to be looking at is the gluteus minimus. This is located in our buttocks. It's going to be responsible for internal and external rotation of the hip. The gluteus minimus is a relatively small muscle in the buttock region. It's located just below the crust here in the hips. Now if this muscle acts up, the pain can be seen all the way down the butt and then in the back of the leg. So, to fix the muscle, we have to find it, which we have to go down to your leg crust about halfway and then slide about 2 fingerbreadths down. From there, we exert the pressure, like we did previously, and just hold and have the patient breathe. Hold that pressure until the patient doesn't feel the pain anymore and then increase the pressure a little bit more. Now, we're going to be moving on to the next muscle group."
