Massage therapy is a practice with a multiplicity of benefits. Whether it’s a quick rubdown or a full-body treatment, the human touch has practical applications for promoting both physical and emotional well-being. The basic idea behind massage is the use of motion, pressure, tension, and vibration on certain areas of the body, localized around muscles or joints in pain or under stress. This allows a release of tension and a return to a homeostatic condition. Therefore, massage is very important for general stress relief, pain management, encouraging physical and emotional healing, or improving circulation.
In this free instructional video series, our expert will show you how to find trigger points and the benefit of each of these trigger points. Learn how to get chiropractic help and improve your massages with the help of these step by step instructional videos.
"DR. CHRIS MANGO: Hi. This is Dr. Chris Mango here in New York City. On behalf of Expert Village, we're going to be taking a look at trigger points today. We're going to teach you today about trigger points. What the deal is, we have tons of muscles inside our body, inside each of these muscles every once in a while you get a knot which is when you get a buildup of one of the muscle bellies. So we got to work those knots out. Now what happens when we get those knots is you have referred pain. So for example, you can have a knot somewhere in one of your arm muscles and that can cause you to have pain in your fingertips. That would be referral from a trigger point. That's what we're going to be working on today. I've been practicing here in New York City for four years. I went to New York Chiropractic College and before that, Syracuse University. You can find me on [PH] HolisticHospitalsNYC.com. So, I'm going to ask you to please come back and we're going to be going over trigger points in the lower extremities. What we're going to do is we're going to find out how to locate them, and then we're going to find out how to fix them."
