Summary: How to perform CPR for a two person rescue with in this free first aid video.
"Hi, My name is Alv Rios and I'm a paramedic with Lansing Mercy Ambulance on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip we are going to talk about the differences between one rescuer CPR and two rescuers CPR. What I have here for this demonstration is an adult mannequin that we have been using previously and also a child mannequin. Just to kind of give you the age definitions an infant is actually a year or less and a child is anything over a year to you first start to see puberty. Once you see signs of puberty they are now considered an adult and you can proceed with the adult procedure. With an adult you are going to want to maintain your 30 compressions for every 2 ventilations with one rescuer. As soon as someone else comes that will help assist me I now have two rescuers and I still maintain 30 compressions for every 2 ventilations. The difference will be that instead of me giving my compressions and having to switch over to my airway which takes a little bit of time I am going to maintain giving my 30 compressions after which I want to make sure I am counting and say 30. Once I have completed my 30 my second rescuer will already be prepared to give the 2 ventilations to minimize any interruptions between the chest compressions. Once he gives his 2 ventilations I will again resume with my chest compressions and do this for 2 minutes. With a child the differences are that with once one rescuer I want to maintain my 30 to 2 but as soon as someone else comes to help me and I have two rescuers I want to actually change my ratio and do 15 chest compressions for every two ventilations."
