Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Drink a mixture of 1/2 tsp. of baking soda stirred well and dissolved in a 1/2 glass of water to relieve the rumble of acid indigestion or heartburn. Drink the mixture quickly and repeat two hours later, if needed. Adults under 60 can safely do this up to seven times in one 24-hour period.

  2. Step 2

Eat a banana. Bananas soothe the stomach and counteract the acids that can cause an upset stomach. They are also easily digested and can help ease diarrhea.

  3. Step 3

Drink strong ginger ale or tea, or chew on a piece of candied ginger to relieve nausea. In China, ginger has been used to treat upset stomachs for over 2,000 years.

  4. Step 4

Drink peppermint tea. The peppermint calms stomach muscles.

  5. Step 5

Relax. Take a warm bath, lie down and listen to calming music or curl up with a good book. Let go of stress in a way that works for you.

  6. Step 6

Avoid foods and drinks that may cause upset stomach or gas. Some of these are coffee, onions, milk, cauliflower, chocolate, fried foods and baked beans.

on 7/29/2009 renatus,
i wish more people like you would come to these types of boards and answer all the questions as detailed and as politely as you just did, no matter what the question may be. alot of these boards, such as ehow, yahoo/answers, and wikihow, are littered with rude comments, comments that have nothing to do with the question, and rude remarks. thank you for doinf what your supposed to do, and thats answer a question to the best of your ability. and the bonus is
your knowledge of the topic in giving an answer to truly help someone out, and also doing it as informed and politely as such.

****im sure someone will rag on me and act like im kissing his rearend, but its just that i have posted many of questions on these types of sites and some of the replys received are rude, or have nothing to do with the question. its mad aggrevating, and i just wanted to thank him/her because...

on 12/30/2008 Throwing up does help me but that is not something I like to do at all. I'm trying to avoid it all together if I can. I find it hard to eat in the early hours of my day so I have few options. One thing that does help is eating a banana as mentioned above(just to fill your appetite). I also find that when I divert my attention from any kind of stress or anxiety I feel much better as well. Try to get "pumped up" for the day like you were about to play an intense sport game. lol it really will make you feel better.

on 10/21/2008 The video mentioned drinking strong ginger ale as the girl drank a can of Canada Dry, which is just as effective as drinking Sprite or Coke (which is not at all). While it is true that ginger eases an upset stomach, mainstream ginger ales (Canada Dry included) do not actually contain ginger; they're just high-fructose corn syrup, flavoring, and carbonation, delicious though they may be.

The more you know...
