"FREDERICK BURCHELL: Hello. My name is Frederick "Ricky B." Burchell with B4 Entertainment on behalf of Expert Village, and today we're going to talk about producing, manufacturing, marketing, and distributing your independent CD. Now, we're going to talk about distribution. Now, you produced your record, you got it manufactured, you got 10,000 CDs, 20,000 CDs, a thousand CDs, just whatever you got, you got CDs. All right, you got to market it, everybody's hearing about your records. People starting to know about you and hearing you as an artist, then what's next? Next is distribution. Distribution is so important. Distribution is, "Where can they get my CD? Where could people get my CD?" or basically getting a CD in stores. You want to get distribution for your record. You gotta search out distribution outlets. Find people who distribute the genre of music that you do 'cause they'll be familiar with the stores and the places that it sells the most and the areas that it sells the most. So call them, call the distribution company, send them a copy of your CD and you should have no problem getting distribution if you have a good package, if you have a good sound recording, and you've been marketing your project, you should have no problem of getting a distribution deal. And lots of times, sometimes, the distribution dealers, they may even lend you some money to help you to market some more, but you don't always want to count on that. You want to be able to have everything yourself so that you can market it and manufacture it and produce the record all yourself and all they have to do is put it in stores, and once they put it in stores that means that you'll get a bigger percentage if you don't take a cut, if they don't give you an advance money. So it's so important, get your distribution and find somebody who does the type of genre of music that you do or at least familiar with the genre of music that you do so they know what stores to get it in."
