Series Summary

It's not surprising that the human voice is the most complex and capable instrument known to man. Thanks in part to vocal chords and the calculated use of them (either through restraint or release), the voice can change pitch, timbre, and volume. The training that goes into understanding how to best utilize these vocal techniques can be difficult, and usually requires a vocal coach or trainer.

on 8/2/2008 hi cass,thnx for the helpful videos.however,im wondering if smoking has huge effects on the quality of voice.i just started singing two years ago and i do smoke.would it ruin my voice quality in the long run?which aspect of the voice does it affect?i sing really high notes.im just worried if i will not be able to hit as high sooner or later.tnx cass and more power.

on 8/2/2008 Hi Cass, many thanks for these videoclips.I am a 66 years old beginner guitarist and pianist. Hooray for rockingchair time.I thought this was only a site for operatic types,but you have improved my folksy ballady voice a million percent.Still pretty bad,but now good enough to croon,while picking out tunes and chords for my lovely mature likewise single lady friends. Life is wonderful and getting better,thanks to music. Many many thanks Mac

As in the overview the things we are going to be covering is diaphragmatic breathing, correct posture, different exercises to warm up your voice, the importance of learning some simple piano techniques to help yourself warm up. We will discuss solfege and use different syllables and diction to help you practice your warmup, strengthening the vocal chords and various techniques like that. We will cover at a higher range, the lower range, the mid range if she is involved in the pesagio and the break and different exercises to enhance that and to minimize the break and just to help your voice have a nice fluid sound."
