"Ok. We're talking about different focusing modes with the Canon 40D, and the next focus mode we want to talk about is the al servo mode. This mode is designed for moving subjects or sports things where, situations where subjects are not still. The way this works is, first, you need to set the drive, the auto-focus mode to al servo, which will be at the bottom of this selection here. And, once we are in the al servo mode, we can focus on a subject, press the shutter button, and the camera will automatically achieve focus. And then, what's going to happens is that focus sensor is going to continuously monitor the subject to see if it's moving and where it's moving to. If it's moving from the foreground to the background, that will trigger the sensor to keep focusing. If it's moving from left to right, the sensor will also trigger the lens to start focusing, as long as the subject remains on one of those nine focusing points in the Canon 40D. So, again, auto-focus, the al servo mode, is designed for moving subjects, and as soon as you press the shutter button, the exposure is set at the moment."
