"Hi. My Name's David Bradshaw. I'm talking about distributing video content, specifically TV content, wirelessly around the house using a Wi-Fi network. I want to talk for a moment about the type of Wi-Fi technology that's being used here, in this PC and also in the Wi-Fi router downstairs. In the past we've had different Wi-Fi technologies, ranging from 802.11B to what we have today, which is 802.11N. The main distinction between those technologies is typically how fast you can distribute content across a Wi-Fi connection. With 802.11B, going back 6-7 years ago, you only had a maximum speed of 11 megabits per second. With 802.11G, which was an advance on that technology, you can get up to 50 megabits per second. But with 802.11N, which is a technology being used today in the market, it's been around for about 6 months, you can get speeds of up to 300 megabits per second and probably in the next 12 months you can get up to 450 megabits per second. The reason the higher speed is important is because, in this setup, you're really talking about distributing high definition content around your house, which is more bandwidth intensive. So, in this case, we're using 802.11N technology, since it's the latest and greatest technology, it allows you to transmit content the quickest in order to facilitate that high definition content wireless distribution capability around your home."
