Series Summary

The development of film came alongside the rise of America as a world empire. The technology developed in the late 19th to early 20th century and quickly became a staple of modern culture and mass consumption. Many trace the beginning of film to a moment also considered the advent of the comic strip as we know it: Eadweard Muybridge's famous pictures of a horse's stride, which proved that in fact there is a moment when all four hooves are off the ground. Film making is the process by which a film is made. The different stages of filmmaking include development, pre-production, production, post-production and distribution.

Video Transcript

"In this series I'll be talking about some of the more advanced features on Canon's XH A1 Camcorder. Specifically the features concerning the lens. That being your focus, and that can be your manual focus or your auto focus, we'll go into all the things you can do with both of those and your zoom. It's a pretty great lens just on a camcorder in general because you have a twenty times optical zoom. What exactly does that mean? In this series, we'll be using this card over here on the wall, to kind of show you what things look like, especially on my Canon here. Let's take a look at what the XH A1 is seeing. From here, you can see when I zoom in, I can get pretty, pretty close and that's our twenty times zoom. Obviously, if you were filming something real and we were outside, or whatever, this would be great. Filming a card on the wall is something a little bit different. Before we even get started, I just want to say, in talking about the lens, I have to mention to buy a lens protector. That being just like a UV filter or just a clear lens that you screw on top of your Canon lens because you don't want to ever damage the actual lens, you want to make sure you have a lens protector on there. They're not that expensive. I recommend going with Tiffin, that's what I have on here, right here. It's a seventy-two millimeter is the size that you'll need. Alright? Let's get started on learning everything we can do on our XH A1 lens."
