"Hearing aids come in a variety of different sizes, and consistent with that the batteries also come in a variety of different sizes. Obviously the smaller hearing aids require smaller batteries. The batteries are color coded according to size. So in front of me I have the three most common sizes of hearing aid batteries, and as you can see one package is yellow, one is orange, one is brown. So I often tell clients that you don't need to remember the number, you just need to remember the color. So size ten is always going to be yellow and it's going to have a yellow tab stuck to the battery, size thirteen is always going to have the orange tab stuck to the battery, and the size three-twelve will always have a brown tab stuck to the battery. So these are the three most common sizes of batteries. There is a fourth size of battery, and it's blue, and its six-seventy-five battery size. It's less common today because it was designed more for the larger, behind the ear hearing aids. So when you get a new hearing aid your audiologist would tell you which size of battery you need for the hearing device. If you forget the battery size after you have owned the hearing aid for a period of time, I always recommend that people keep one of the tabs in the case where they store their hearing aid. Just take one of the tabs and stick it in there, and at least that way you'll always remember the color."
