Self defense is a system of combat techniques used to prevent another person causing harm to your person or property. There are many forms of self defense including women's self defense, karate, judo, jujutsu, tae kwon do, and other forms of martial arts. Some forms of self defense teach non-violent techniques like verbally de-escalating confrontations in order to avoid the use of force, but most utilize strikes, throws, locks, punches, kicks, elbows, and other close combat attacks.
In this free video series, our expert Tres Tew will tell you all about self defense using a knife including how to select the right knife, basic knife fighting moves, and how to defend yourself with a knife. he will also show you how to defend against a downward stab, a strait stab, a downward slash, an angled slash, and a cross slash. Mr. tew will teach you how to defend against a front kick, a side kick, and an escrima stick attack using a knife. he will even show you how to surprise your attacker with a knife and how to use a knife against a person with a gun before going over some very important safety tips for self defense with a knife.
"Hi I'm Tres Tew. I'm an instructor here for Christian Martial Arts. Today I'm going to be talking to you on behalf of Expert Village about how to use a knife for self defense. Okay in the next couple of clips we're going to be talking about how to use a knife to defend yourself. Again, keep in mind that you're not always going to want to use a knife. If your attacker is unarmed, you're probably going to go to jail for using lethal force. Again, only pull your knife if someone pulls a weapon on you and you have to use it. Again, if it's a weapon that's probably not going to cause too much damage, a stick, a baseball bat, a wooden pole, a knife, just use some other means. But we're going to be going over the basic cuts, slashes, how to pick a knife and how to abide by your state regulations as far as the length of your blade. Everything like that and have fun. Be safe."
