Video Transcript

"Hello! My name is Sid Nelson, master instructor in Martial Arts. I'm representing expertvillage.com. Next, we'll be moving into how to punch. In class, to make a proper fist we will roll the fingers in first and put the thumb on the outside. Do not put your thumb in the inside as it can create injury if you would make impact on the target. We're going to curl the fingers and put the thumb on the outside on the how to make a punch. First, lets start into a horse stance just like we're riding on a horse. One hand's out and one hand's on the waist. Pull the fingers in first. Once again, the thumb's on the outside. Keep your body relaxed and pull with the extended arm and punch out with the hand on the belt simultaneous, together, and make a twisting motion at the end of the punch. We want to keep our arms close to our ribs so that we create a straight line to our target. Don't forget the yell on the martial arts. It tightens up the body. Right at impact. Only tighten up the muscles at the end of the technique, the end of the punch. Keep your eyes focused right on your knuckles where it's going to meet its target."
