"The table that I'm using today, is just the basic cheaper brands or styles. They usually go how thick the top surface is, this one is a slate but it's not the really expensive one where the slate can be up to an inch thick, this is the cheaper brand or style. Once you assemble it, out of the box, it's pretty much ready to play but what's nice about, a lot of the brands you can get is, they will be able to collapse and fold up together so that you can slide it off into the corner. Some also come on wheels, so that the kids can run around, and you can make better use of your space other than just leaving it up, the whole time. This one, like I said, collapses together and it's on wheels, the legs basically just collapse, let me show you. Then you can just push it back into the corner, if you want to keep it out of the way."

on 1/30/2009 Scott says the table is"slate" -- that is not correct. This is not a pool table! If it was made of slate it would break under its own weight and would not be portable. Typically, tables are made from particle board with a special painted surface, but there are many grades of different quality. The better tables are thicker, but also they are much more sturdily built all around than the cheap rec quality table Scott is using. The net is a joke. Very cheap and basically unusable because there's no way to properly adjust it and get the height and tension just right. Go to USATT.org and find a TT club in your area and see what a real table should look like. Quality brands include Butterfly, Joola, Stiga, Killerspin and others. Unfortunately you cannot buy quality TT tables or equipment in stores. You can to go online or to a booth at a big annual tournament like the Nationals in Vegas or North American Teams in Baltimore.
