"Hi I'm Robert Rogers and I'm Mike Ballosonie. Today we are going to be talking about some basic stretching you can do before and after you run to help loosen up your muscles and help relax. The next stretch is something I call the hurdler stretch. It's the form that you should go over a hurdler. You don't have to be a herbal if you stretch this way. Right foot straight back foot in a triangle position. Like so. Then going from that you are going to lean back on it. You don't want to go all the way down unless your experience in stretching. Sometimes if you go all the way down it might rip a muscle. So if it hurts to bad don't do it. Mike he has done this many times. You are going to be stretching right through here. Lets go to the next stretch. What you are going to do is stretch legs and do the same thing on this side. Head down, touch your toes, if you can and as far as you can with out bouncing. Same thing when you move backwards. Again. Why twenty is the magic number? The more you count the better. You can go to twenty-five, thirty it really depend on the time exactly. How fast do you count? Or how slow you count? The more stretching the better. I don't think you can out stretch yourself. This make sure you are not injuring anything. You can injure yourself stretching."

on 8/2/2008 Stretching the quadriceps femoris (Quads) by using the hurdler stretch was determined to be bad on the knees because it puts undue stress on the knee ( a hinge joint should not have lateral stress) and stretches ligaments (tissue connecting bone to bone). The preferred method for stretching the quad is a standing position.
