Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. Known as football in most countries of the world, soccer is a team sport consisting of two teams of eleven players each, one of which must be the goalie. The game has been played for centuries and can be dated back as far as 2nd and 3rd century B.C. China. In typical game play, players attempt to create goalscoring opportunities through individual control of the ball, such as by dribbling, passing the ball to a team-mate, and by taking shots at the goal, which is guarded by the opposing goalkeeper.
In this free video series, our expert Ron Weisberg will show you how to shoot a soccer ball. He will talk about finesse vs power, how to aim, how to do the banana kick, and how to properly head the ball. He will even offer a few basic shooting techniques so you can be the best soccer player you can be.
"Now what I want to talk about is shooting everybody's favorite. So basically what shooting is pounding the ball as hard as you can into the back of the net. So we talked about long passes and how you lean back in shooting basically you use the same technique but you want to stay leaned forward over the ball to keep it low underneath the goal post. It's the same as everything else plant your foot you plant your hips and all your powers comes from this hinge right here. You want to hit the ball in the very center of the ball that is where all if you hit the ball in the center it's where you're going to get the most force. You want to lock your ankles so what I'm going to do is I'm going to hit the ball into this corner just like that right there I'm going to use this part of the shoe laces, this is the shoot for power. Now I felt the ball right here when the ball is in the air it's easier to hit it right in the middle of the foot it's the most amount of power. I'll show you that kick again. "
