" Hi, my name is Peter with Expert Village. Today I'm going to talk to you about competitive cross country running. In this section I'm going to talk to you about warming up during your run. You always have to warm up all of your muscles when you start off on any activity. For competitive cross country running, what you want to do is you're going to do either day one or day three of that five mile run. Within that first half mile, you are going to want to do a nice steady jog to warm up the muscles and increase your speed. If you are going to do a five to seven mile run, then you are going to want to increase your jog at a steady pace within that first mile instead of a half mile. Then the rest of them continuously miles whether it's five or seven and then you can pick up the speed."
