" Hi! I’m personal trainer Mike Coangelo here at Fit for Life Training Studio in Glassboro, New Jersey. Today I’m going to demonstrate how to do a dumbbell back supported row. What you want to do is you want to get on the bench. Make sure your chest is at the top of the bench like so. I’m going to grab each dumbbell, facing the dumbbells toward each other. Come up, separate, squeeze the back, and come down slowly. Now, notice I’m coming down in a very controlled motion. Squeeze to the top, and come down. I’m not doing any of this. Alright, that’s what you want to stay away from. Nice controlled movements. What you also don’t want to do is do any rotation of the shoulders, because that can cause injury. You want nice straight motion. Squeeze to the top, come down slow, squeeze to the top, and come down slow. Okay, 12-15 repetitions for beginners, nice controlled movements. Now, you want to make sure that you’re in straight plane of motion. Don’t let the dumbbells drop down here. Keep them out here. Keep your eyes on them . Nice plane of motion. Three more, two more. Put your dumbbells down, and that is how a dumbbell roll back supported. "
