All right, so the first step to making sure your suspension is properly setup is setting the amount of sag that you have. Sag is the amount of suspension that you're using, just static at rest. The proper way to really get a good measurement of sag, is to be wearing your riding clothing, to be on your bike in your riding gear in the position that you're normally riding in. So, on this bike, I'm not going to put on my riding gear--I can lean up against this wall and I can show you how much sag I'm getting. Pretty much on forks like this--like a five inch travel fork--you want twenty to thirty percent sag, or a little bit more. So, what I've done is I've put a zip tie, which, I don't know if you can see that yellow thing right there. I put that zip tie around my stanchion tube, and I'm going to get on my bike, and sort of assume my riding position. I'm going to measure to see how much sag I get. So, I'm going to lean up against this handy wall, get on the bike. So, this is, you don't want to bounce up and down to determine your sag. Okay, so now I'm going to get off, and you can see that I've got yea much sag, which, let's see, about thirty millimeters of sag, which is fairly good for this application.
