"We are taking a look at some soccer techniques. We are going to have a look how the goalkeeper deals with crosses. A cross might be from open play, or it may be from a set piece called the corner kick. It is important that the goalkeeper takes charge in the box when she is dealing with crosses. We want to position the goalkeeper towards the back sight of her goal area, about 2 steps off of her goal line. As the cross comes in, he or she has to take control and communicate that that is his or her ball. It is important to get up for a cross that has height, the lunge using the knee to get height, to collect the ball at the highest point. So we want to try and use the knee for thrust, plant the ball, and the knee also protects as a barrier for any on coming players. Lets show that with our goalkeeper. And we would do one more. So that shows how a goal keeper deals with crosses coming into a box. She has to get her knee up: it protects her, it creates that extra height. And when the cross is coming in, ideally you want to try and collect the ball at its highest point."
