"Hi, I'm Kevin Byford with the Ski and Snowboard Schools of Aspen on behalf of the Expert Village. Okay, so there's a lot of things you can do before you get on the chair. A lot of practice things you can do. First thing you want to do is get a flat area, put your front foot in, get the board flat on the ground. Then you put your free foot on the stomp pad. What we'll do here is work on getting a good stance. The stance you want is an athletic stance, as seen in most sports. You want your knees slightly flexed, you want your back straight, your arms by your side, and no twisting between the upper and lower body. Then in that position I want you to try jumping, landing, and when you want it's compressed. This is your stance when you land. That's how you're going to be riding. Nice and relaxed. So, the next important thing is to get around--to get on the chair, and once we're off the chair we'll skate around and find a seat to sit down. The way you want to skate--you're going to take your back foot off the board. Put it behind your front foot, keeping your weight on the board you're going to push off, and move around. Pushing around. If you want, you can push and glide for a second. Push and glide for a second."
