"After you've selected your life vest. The next consideration will be your ski rope. Now, there are several types of ski ropes. There's a two handled ski rope, which I don't recommend for a beginner. The one handle and this particular one is a metal core with a hard fiberglass sheathing. This particular one here is a solid core, which will sink. I don't recommend this for a beginner. I would recommend a wood core ski rope for the beginner, so that it floats. That way, we won't miss the rope when the boat comes around. Later on, when you become more proficient I would go to a solid metal handle. This particular rope is 75 feet long. As you progress, you might want to go to a shorter rope (60 foot). It just makes being picked up a little bit quicker, eats less gas. It's a little bit hard on the hand, so you might want to consider a basic pair of water ski gloves. These are available at any sporting goods store where you pick you ski out, or your ski rope and their padded. Also, they give a nice grip. There's a Velcro fastener to keep them on your hands. As you can see, these are a large. Just slip them on, and you fasten them. It gives you a nice firm grip on the rope. I recommend these."
