Series Summary

Soo Bahk Do is a combination of Korean martial arts and philosophy. Its founder Hwang Kee took principles from Chinese martial arts like Kung Fu and philosophies from Taoism and Confucianism and made a fighting style that combined steps, forms, postures, and conditioning. The basic ideal of the art is that strong spirit and body creates a strong individual, which, in turn, creates a strong and peaceful community, and in turn, a strong and peaceful world.

In this free video series, our expert Geoff Sterling will teach you how to do the martial art Soo Bahk Do. Geoff will be going over advanced kicks like the spinning back kick, the jumping back kick, the skipping forward back kick, the spinning side kick, and the 360 jumping spinning back kick, the hook kick and the front leg hook kick. Geoff will also be showing you how to do a spinning hok kick, a stepping hook kick, a spinning wheel kick, an axe kick, and an outside to inside kick. Video Transcript

"Hello everybody my name is Christian Nagar and on behalf of Expert Village and Hollywood Soo Bahk Do I would like to welcome you. I am a fourth don or fourth degree black belt master instructor here at Hollywood Soo Bahk Do in the art of Soo Bahk Do Moo Do Kwon. Today we are going to go through some advanced kicking techniques and for that one of my students, Geoff Sterling. Mr. Geoff Sterling is an E-Don in this art and he will be helping us demonstrate these techniques so he will tell you a little bit more about them. Yes sir, so what is interesting about Soo Bahk Do Moo Do Kwon is how true we stay to our history and to our culture. The grand master of art, Yuan Ki, 60 or 70 years ago actually came across a manual called the Moo Yi Do Bo Ton Gi and it was lost and almost forgotten about and he dug this up and it has basic ancient manuscript that he interpreted 350 years ago and drew out basically the style that is our art. What I am going to demonstrate to you today is some of the more advanced kicks that are part of the Soo Bahk Do Moo Do Kwon. So you are going to be seeing some jumping kicks, some spinning kicks and different variations and applications from another practitioner from Hollywood Soo Bahk Do as well so you'll be seeing those kicks momentarily. Thank you. "
