"On behalf of Expert Village I'm Sifu Dwight Woods of Unified Martial Art Academy in Miami, Florida and today we are going to be talking about beginners jeet kune do. Okay so if we take a look at what we call the fighting position or the on guard position in jeet kune do you would see that it's different from what you might encounter in traditional martial art. So traditional martial art for example might have what they call the front stance or I think they that they call it ZENKUTSUDACHI or the have KOKUTSUDACHI which is a horse stance. You can have I think this one is called NEKOASHIDACHI which is the cat stance and then you have the back stance in this kind of thing. Any jeet kune do the KAMAE or ready position is pretty much just this. Now from this position you can't really tell am I going to throw a punch, am I going to throw a kick, am I going to maybe do something from grappling or whatever. This is why we call it just the ready position or the on guard position. "
