"As ultimate Frisbee has evolved, it's spawned several new ultimate Frisbee sports. One of them is similar to ultimate Frisbee. It's called goaltimate and goaltimate is played similar to ultimate Frisbee. The field is a lot smaller and instead of having an end zone to score in, you have more of a goal. And the goal is delineated by an arch of PVC. The arch is about eighteen feet wide at its base and about twelve feet high at the tallest point. Behind the goal is a semi circle of about eighteen feet deep at its deepest point. There, instead of having a full field, you have more like half court basketball. You have a clear line. The clear line is about thirty-five yards in front of the goal and the object is, it's a four man, four man team as well. The object is similar to ultimate. The players get the Frisbee, establish a pivot foot, try to throw to their team mates and instead of scoring in the end zone, you score in the goal. And the Frisbee will go through the mouth of the goal and be caught by one of the players inside the small semi circle in the back of the goal and that will be a point. Instead of the teams breaking apart and going to their respective sides of the field and pulling off, actually play does not stop like that. Play is continuous meaning that after the goal is caught in the end zone, the team that just scored still maintains possession. They try and bring it back out and clear the Frisbee past the clear line and then come back in and attack the goal again. The whole time the other team is defending against them and they're attempting to block or intercept the Frisbee for themselves. If there is a turnover of that nature, the defending team becomes the offense. They have to go behind the clear line to clear the Frisbee and then in turn they can come back in and attack the goal. There's a special scoring provision in goaltimate and that is, if you throw a goal from behind the clear line, and it's caught in the semi circle in the arch, that counts as two points instead of one point. The stall count is a bit different in goaltimate. It's a five stall count instead of a ten stall count in ultimate. So the game tends to move a lot faster than ultimate Frisbee."
