" Hi my name is Dan and I'm here with Expert Village and today to talk to you on how to tie a marline spike hitch. The original name came from the use of using a marline spike to tie the knot. You can use any strong durable straight object. The use of this knot is to be able to tie a quick and easy knot that you can use to pull on a line. For example is you are dragging a load of firewood through the wood. So I would show you how to tie it one more time slowly. Have your working end trailing out behind you, cross over your line, make a loop, and bend that loop down underneath. That is the marline spike hitch. When you are finish with it, it simply pulls out. Easy to tie, easy to untie."
