"One of the ways to reinforce good form shooting is to start directly under the basket. Well, not directly under the basket, because then you're going to be shooting through the rim. Just a little bit behind the basket. A lot of people what they do is they come out on the court and they start jacking up 3s. In order to truly prepare to shoot good shots, you're going to want to start close and then work your way back. I want to get right by the basket directly in front. As always, you want to have your feet shoulder width apart, elbow tucked in, full extension of the arm, good follow through by bending your hand. What I like about this drill is if I'm shooting too hard, I'm going to know it because it's going to clang off the back of the rim. If I'm shooting too lightly, it's going to hit the front of the rim. If you have really, really good form, it's going to drop directly through the net and it's barely going to touch the sides. A lot of people don't know this, but there's a lot of room for air when you shoot a basketball. If you try, you can put 2 basketballs through there at the same time. Most people don't know that because who shoots 2 basketballs at the same time. There's a lot of room to give, so make sure that you keep that good form and it'll go directly through the net. After you get really comfortable up front, you're going to take one big step back and do the same thing. A little off there. Take another step back. I was a little short there. When I'm short, I know that I'm not bending my legs enough. That's where your power should come from. Not from your arms, but it should come from your lower body. The farther you get back, the more you're going to have to push with your legs. A little short. There we go. That's how you reinforce good form shooting."
