"GINA KENNEDY: A good way to begin your yoga practice is with centered breathing, and we normally like to do this seated in sukhasana, or easy-seated pose. So, Faith is fairly flexible but for some of us who are not--and we may have a rounded spine, and I'm going to ask Faith to do this for us, and our knees may not come to the ground. So, when we seat in easy-seated pose or sukhasana, we would like to have our hips higher than our knees. So, I'm going to ask Faith to take a seat on this block--yeah--and that's going to allow her knees to fall a little bit lower, and it's going to allow her to lengthen up to her spine, so her sits bones would be rooting down into the block, lengthening up to the spine. She's going to take her shoulders back and open through her heart, reach up through the crown of her head, and maybe lift slightly through the back of the skull so she has a nice, long spine, beautiful posture, and then she's just going to close her eyes, and become--come in to her centered breathing, softly inhaling in and softly exhaling."
