Summary: Learn how to do the leg circles pilates exercise in this free health and fitness instruction video.
"Hi! My name is April Plank with Yoga Etc. Studio on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip, we will be working with the leg circles on the Pilates Reformer. So I am going to have Helen start by putting on the leg straps and she wants to put those on one leg at a time and just kind of slide them down toward the base of the foot. Perfect, right in the instep. Reach the leg up to the ceiling. As always, we are going to start with a neutral spine. We don't want the leg so close to the body that the tail bone lifts so she is going to stay right here to start. Gluing the legs together. Everything will stay stable from the hips to the shoulder so her goal is final stability using abdominal strength so that she is not rocking and rolling all over the place. Only thing that will move will be the legs. We are going to inhale to prepare, exhale to lower the legs down going as low as you can without extending the spine. Now inhale and open the legs out and around and bring them back to your start position pulling the legs together. Exhale, pressing the legs down. Inhale opening keeping those legs in parallel and zipping the legs back together and squeezing nice. One more exhaling down, inhale open the legs and back together and then we will reverse the direction. So you will come out as you exhale and then press down through those heels bringing those legs together and then inhale the legs back up to the ceiling. Exhale out, press the heels down, slide the legs together and inhale back to the ceiling. One more time. Inhaling, exhaling and back up to the ceiling. Nice work. Great. So that was the leg circles on the Pilates Reformer. "
