"Hi! I'm Kelli no behalf of Expert Village. I am going to show you my opinions and techniques on how to properly lead your horse. So after we have walked to your horse and we've caught them, we are going to put our right hand around their nose. You always want to approach your horse from the left. We are going to take the halter and place their nose in the halter, pull it over the ears very gently. We are going to pull their forelock out and make sure that it is not caught in any way. We are going to straighten the mane. We are going to take our little throat latch clip here and we are going to clip it to the little ring. Some halters will buckle here and there is also a buckle that goes up around and over the ears and they don't have this little clip there. So again, we would approach it in the same way putting the nose through the halter, putting the band up behind the ears and buckling it. "
