"First thing we're going to discuss a little bit is how to pick out the right corn snake for you. Now there are lots of different color variations of corn snakes. And any good reptile store or exotic store will have at least a couple to choose from. This is your good old albino corn snake okay. As you can see they're a very nice red color. Okay. Reddish orange. They're very pretty. When you're looking at a corn snake you want to make sure, or any snake really, that all the scales are intact, it doesn't seem to have any damaged scales anywhere on it. There's no shed skin built up. Seems to be going through his sheds alright. Make sure his eyes are clear and bright. There's no cloudiness. He should react to movement. He shouldn't be laying limply in your hands. Make sure his tongue is moving around, he's smelling. Don't be afraid to check his mouth for any discoloration or it hanging open. Make sure his nostrils are clear and don't seem to have any build up on them. Looking for signs of basically respiratory infections or mouth rot. It wouldn't be a bad idea either to check his vent to make sure that there is no build up or anything strange or odd going on down there either. Now with any snake, purchasing of any snake, you should always check when was the animal last fed, can you see it being fed. You want to make sure that it's going to be a good eater. You want to know what size of feeder animal it's being fed."
