"Hi, I'm Johan Svahnstrom on behalf of Expert Village. The next step after you have put in your substrate in your tank, in this case newspaper and Aspen, is to put in your cage furniture. Cage furniture could be logs, wood, rocks, bark. There's two reasons that you want to have some cage furniture in there. One of the reasons is to enhance shedding. The snake likes to rub against something hard or rough when it sheds its skin. The other reason is for shelter, all snakes need to have a shelter or two in their cages so that they can hide. Some wood for climbing, a piece of cork bark for shelter, a rock for rubbing. If you can't find any cork bark, a flower pot that is turned over on its side is also a good enclosure for a snake tank. I actually use both, I like to have two enclosures in there. "
