"Hi, this is Ryan with Expert Village and I'm going to show you how to deal with distractions while you're walking your dog. So you get your good dog and you take him on a walk. You notice the dog is behind me or next to me, and any time that he goes to sniff the ground I'm not going to allow that because he needs to pay attention to what I'm doing cause I'm the pack leader. I'm in charge of his pack. And a lot of times you'll come across barking dogs or people that will distract your dog, and so what you would want to do, instead of just letting your dog charge ahead is you stop him, if there are say there's a couple of golden retrievers that live here that will bark at my dogs a lot so I will turn them in face so that they cannot see the dogs and I'll have them sitting down. And then he'll try and look to pay attention the dog, and every time he does I'll give him a quick correction like that. Just a quick snap and then release the tension, and then he understands that I do not want him to pay attention to the dogs. I want him to pay attention to me. And so I will just continue to do that until he completely obeys what I want him to do. If it takes ten minutes, it takes ten minutes, and we don't give in until the dog does exactly what we want him to do."
