This is our assembled chicken pot pie; it has the stew with the chicken and all the vegetables in it. We made a roux which became a sauce nice and thick, then I laid on my puff pastry which was rolled out, laid it on top and I cut some slits into it so that it doesn't break or shatter or just bubble up. Sometimes puff pastry will bubble up if the heat gets trapped underneath. I don't want any of that happening. So I did that, I cut the slits in it, then I brushed it with an egg wash, and a egg wash is something that you add to any kind of pastry or dough when you are going to bake it. A bread dough is a good example, it makes it nice and shiny glistening. My oven has been preheated to 350 degrees, I'm going to take it slide it right in uncovered for sure, close that up. That is going to bake for about forty to forty five minutes until the pastry gets nice and fluffy and in the next clip I'm going to take it out of the oven and show you what we've got.
