Series Summary

The thick, creamy deliciousness that is a mousse was once only a specialty of French and Belgian restaurants but it eventually entered the American dessert cart in the 1960's, and has remained a favorite ever since. Mousse is made of a combination of whipped eggs and cream and is frequently paired with other flavors, most commonly chocolate but also different types of pureed fruit. Depending on how it is prepared, mousse can range from light and fluffy to thick and creamy.

In this mouth watering video series, you will get step-by-step instructions on how to prepare a delicious homemade chocolate mousse. Our expert chef will show you how to whip and add the eggs, cream and chocolate to create this classy dessert. She will also demonstrate how to decorate your chocolate mousse with homemade whipped cream and decorative chocolate hearts for a dessert that is not only delicious but also quite beautiful.

What we'll be using today is I have 2, we're going to be making a crust and we're going to be making the mousse. These are the ingredients for the mousse 12 oz of a semi sweet chocolate. Choose a good chocolate because that will have a major impact on the flavor, 1 1/2 cups of heavy cream or whipping cream, 1 cup of sugar divide it into 2 half cups portions, 1/2 cup of water, 4 eggs that will be separating, 1 tablespoon of instant coffee, and a pinch of salt. For the crust we'll be using 8 oz of chocolate cookie wafers, 3 oz of butter or margarine, and 2 tablespoons of sugar. We'll be using a 10" spring form pan, spring form pan is used so that the sides can be removed easier and it should be easy to remove the dessert from the pan."
