Now that our butter and sugar have been incorporated it's time to add the rest of the wet ingredients and that is going to be one teaspoon of vanilla, I just want to measure that out. Mmm that smells really good. Nice and strong vanilla flavor. And then a half a teaspoon of almond extract and this isn't going to be very very strong in the cookie. It's just going to add a little bit more flavor so that it's just not plain vanilla and then one egg. You want to use a large egg and then we are going to once again slowly start our mixer we don't want it to splatter any eggs. We just want to have it nice and slow until the egg yolk is broken up before we move on up to a faster speed. Now the egg and butter mixture is a little bit lumpy so what we are going to do is scrape down the bowl and the beater. We want to make sure that the butter gets fully incorporated which right now there's tons of butter on these sides of the mixing bowl. You want to scrape that all down before turning the mixer back on to beat some more. So now you can see that egg and the extracts have been fully incorporated into our sugar butter mix and it's time for the next step.
