"Hi! My name is Shaun Appler and I am an investigator with the Wrightsville Beach Police Department and on behalf of Expert Village, I am here to talk to you today about how to deal with an aggressive driver. Tips for avoiding them. There is one main tip I can give you and that's get out of their way. If you are on a two lane road where you've got no where to go, they are coming up behind you and they are riding right on you, go ahead and pull over and let them go by. If they are following you too close and you have to react fast, they are not thinking of you as another driver. They are thinking of you as an obstacle to have to get by. They are not even thinking of you as human. If you get out of their way, let them go on. Aggressive drivers annoy me I'm sure as much as they annoy you. But the best course of action as a private citizen for you is just go ahead and move out of the way. I'll also say this is there are two lanes going in the same direction and you happen to be in the left hand lane and you are doing the speed limit, the aggressive comes up behind you and gets up on your tail, you are not required to go any faster. Statute says if you do the speed limit and whatever the speed limit is, so I know you don't have to go faster. Let me tell you this. Like I told you before. You are an obstacle to this person. You are not human. They are not thinking about you. Slow down move over, speed up a little bit and get out of the way of the aggressive driver. They are going to cause an accident and you don't want to be involved in an accident they are going to cause. "
