Hi! My name is Nate McCullough. In this clip we are going to talk about 2 different kinds of wiper blades. This is your standard wiper blade. It is factory equipment on most vehicles and sold anywhere in the world. The trouble is if you live in a climate where you get snow or slush, sleet, ice on your windshield, all of the moving parts of this wiper blade are exposed, non protected. As the wiper blade moves across the windshield, it confirms to the different curvature of the shield. If it is packed full of ice and snow, it can't conform. On this side we have your winter weather wiper blade. You see that if has a protective sheet over it of rubber which keeps all that foreign material out of the moving components keeping the wiper blade flat against the windshield and operating the way it should. When these wiper blades are manufactured, it is years before they are ever sold to the public. They sit in warehouses and the rubber will deteriorate over time even in the package not on your vehicle. Most wiper blades will come with an optimizer. Pretty much what this is, is a rubbing alcohol based solution on a little wet wipe. Rub that on your new wiper blade, just on the blade portion, and that will re-vitalize the blade surface, making it nice and soft so it grips your windshield and cleans it properly.
