" Hi! I am Bob Osborne with Expert Village. Once you have completely vacuumed the vehicle, its time to shampoo the carpeting. Now if the carpet is very dirty, especially the car mats, I always pull the mats out, put them on the ground and I will use a hose and a brush, wet them thoroughly, spray some degreaser on the really tough stains and I will agitate with a brush. I will take the hose, rinse and then I vacuum up the mat. I lay it outside and let it dry. Once I have done the mat, then I go in, I address the regular carpeting. Most of the time underneath the mat, the carpet is not dirty, but whatever areas are left soiled, apply general purpose cleaner or general purpose degreaser. Again Simple Green is the brand that I use very, very lightly to the soiled areas. The method I use which is really quick and very simple is just take a bug sponge that’s fairly wet, apply water after you have applied the degreaser or cleaner and then take a brush and then vacuum it up."

on 3/2/2009 I do Professional Auto Detail too, I don't think leaving the degreaser, on the carpet, is a good Idea, yes by simple notice you clean it, but you are leaving all the stain, and degreaser after all in the carpet, cause in the future you will still have that stain, and it would be more dificult to do a deep steam clean.
I prefer using at the and a Nice Portable to wash, and lift all the dirt, and brushing you did, that way you don't have to worry for future problems like bad odor, or a wet smelly carpet in a few days.
Sorry but this is the way I do my carpet cleaning in a automobile
