Here we're demonstrating how to change a heater core in a late model Ford Explorer or Mercury Mountaineer. In this step, we're going to talk about the proper service procedure for dismounting the duct work and heater core box from the firewall. Now, on this big of a vehicle we have three bolts to deal with. One here. There's one here. And, there's one more down at the bottom right here. Those bolts actually hold this portion against the firewall. We're going to take those off now, so when we remove the instrument panel we can slide this right out. You're going to want to take and set these on your magnetic tray for later reinstallation. Alright. Two down and one more to go. Got our top one here to deal with. Alright. And, there's the last one. That is the proper service procedure for removing the retaining nuts from your heater core housing to the firewall.
