"RICK GEISSLER: Hi, I'm Rick Geissler, expertvillage.com, coming to you from A & R Tire, talking about how to buy tires. Some of the things you need to know about tire warranties are when you're talking about major manufacturers, they've gotten over this, they know when the tires are worn out. For instance, this tire right here has got a 60,000-mile warranty and it is a light-truck tire. And with the manufacturers, they know that's going to last you 60,000. So what they're doing is they're hedging their bet. They're thinking that you're going to get actually 70,000 to 80,000 miles, but they're going to guarantee it at 60,000. Again for some of your lower cost products, there's not necessarily a warranty issue. They all--everybody comes with a prorated life material and that's federally mandated. But when you talk about your warranties, for platinum pact warranties, Bridgestone is definitely one of the leaders in the industry. As far as your warranty basis, they'll adjust the tire if there's separation in overall condition. Anything happens with that tire other than a road hazard, in their Platinum pack, they're going to give you three years customer satisfaction, no charge, and unlike most of the other companies is prorated. What proration means is if you wear the tire down by 50%, you're going to pay for 50% of the new one, and so what we do is try to carry the major brands that are going to give you those good warranties."
