In the following clips we are going to talk about the proper way to re-pack, grease and adjust your vehicles' wheel bearings. In this clip we are going to talk about the proper way to clean and dry your vehicles wheel bearings. I've got a bearing right here. What I'm going to do is use my shop rag to remove a large portion of this grease. We're going to use some spray solvent here in a minute to get the stuff that my rag will miss. You can see I'm just working it around, wipe it off. Just the vast majority of it this way. I' going to do the same thing with my outboard bearing. Okay, once you have a vast majority of the grease wiped off. I will take a spray solvent. For the money this is the best stuff on the shelf. This is $1.88. If you were to use something like Brake Clean, it could range from $2.50 to $5 a can. What you're looking for is just a pretty volatile spray solvent. We're in good shape. I like to spray it off right into a trash can. What this will do is break down the grease inside the rollers that I can't wipe off with my rag. As you can see my bearing is becoming extremely clean. I want to get all that dirt and old grease and contaminants out of there. We'll let this air dry. Never blow dry these with compressed air. Never blow dry one of these. Just let it sit there and give it 5 or 10 minutes and let the solvent evaporate off of it. Going to do the same thing for the inboard bearing. All right, we'll set those down and give them a moment to clean up. That's the proper way to remove the grease from your wheel bearings
